Why should you avoid creating logos with AI?

It’s worrying how much I am seeing businesses use AI-powered logo design websites and here is why…

Yes, these platforms do promise quick, affordable, and easy solutions for creating a professional logo without the need for a graphic designer, which is great when you are starting out. However, despite their convenience, there are real concerns regarding copyright, originality, and file formats when using AI logo software.

The biggest problem with AI logo generators is that they often do not provide clear or accurate information about copyright ownership. Since these tools generate logos based on algorithms the results may incorporate elements that are not copyrighted or similar to existing trademarks. This can lead to legal complications if the logo is used commercially.

AI-generated logos are typically created by combining existing design elements and styles. While they may look unique on the surface, the underlying design could be used for hundreds of other businesses.

Another issue I see is that many AI logo tools produce raster images, like JPEGS & PNGS rather than vector files like EPS. Vector graphics are essential for professional logo usage because they can be scaled at any size without loss of quality. This ensures your logo looks crisp on everything from business cards to outdoor signage. Logos created as raster images can become pixelated when resized, limiting their usability.

Your brand is one of the most important parts of your business. By ensuring your logo is unique, investing in getting it done professionally by a graphic designer could far outweigh potential problems and extra costs in the future.
